What is Sensory Development?

Like most animals, humans rely on their five senses to experience the world around them. These senses: touch, taste, hearing, sight and smell allow each baby to interpret his or her environment; this is called sensory processing.

Sensory development starts during gestation. From birth, an infant will begin to explore each of their senses.  It is during this period of infancy when childhood sensory development begins to progress and mature.
